Venezuela now – What about human rights?

On April 15, we had the opportunity and the honor to speak at the Nobel Peace Center through our Founder and Foro Penal Norway Coordinator, Sonia Zapata, who shared panel with Foro Penal’s President and Executive Director, Alfredo Romero, and Frank Tandberg Conde, Policy Advisor at Amnesty International Norway.

The session provided an update of the human rights crisis that continues in Venezuela. We heard about the 485 political prisoners who are still calling for freedom, those who have disappeared, tortured, and, the many other victims of human rights violations in Venezuela.

We also heard about hope, resilience, solidarity, and about a future worth continuing to fight for until Venezuelans finally achieve justice, peace, and freedom.

We would also like to thank the leaders at Foro Penal, Alfredo Romero and Gonzalo Himiob and the lawyers and active defenders of Foro Penal in Venezuela who fight every single day for the victims and their families.
